Vathy Beach
Located in the area of Kritsa, just before the beaches of Istron, Vathy is a relatively unknown beach that is 10km south of Agios Nikolaos. This is due to the fact that it is an artificial beach, created in 2010, and cannot be seen from the old road that links Agios Nikolaos with Eastern Crete.

Families will find Vathy ideal as the waters are calm, and it’s possible to explore the rocky shores of the Gulf with a snorkeler’s mask.

Despite its artificial nature, Vathy is a stunning beach that is formed in a narrow bay and is well-protected from most winds, with only occasional easterly winds in Crete affecting the area.

The beach boasts fine, whitish sand that beautifully contrasts with the vibrant colors of the sea, and it is well-equipped with amenities due to its operation by the nearby luxurious local hotel, Daios Cove.

If you’re not staying at the hotel, you can reach the beach by following a concrete pathway with staircases, which is located just before the hotel entrance.
