Our impressions
Glaros beach is an hidden gem located on the north coast, approximately at the same distance from Rethymno and Heraklion. The nearest main village is Bali.
Well connected with the main national road between Rethymno and Heraklion, near the Church of Panagia Charakiani, you’ll find a small peninsula where there are the small beaches of Glaros and Katevati.
The three stunning beaches of Glaros (also known as Glaria or Peristeri) are facing west. The small greenish islet of Glaros, which is separated from the beach by a narrow canal, give the name to the beaches.
Reaching the beach is a little tricky and is suggested only to adult people with approriate shoes. The last part of the path is very steep.
The shore is almost sandy, but the bottom is rocky. This place is ideal for seclusion (if you’ll arrive early morning probably you’ll be alone for some hours) and snorkeling. You have obviously to bring all the necessary for your stay at the beach.
Pay attention in case of big waves because of the rocky bottom. Aqua shoes are recommended.
