Crete is served by two international airports: Heraklion Nikos Kazantzakis (HER) and Chania Ioannis Daskalogiannis (CHQ). Both receive direct flights from most major European cities throughout the summer season (April–October), with Heraklion offering year-round connections.

Crete is a large island — approximately 260km from west to east — and a private vehicle is strongly recommended to fully explore its regions.
Crete enjoys one of the most generous climates in Europe. Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) offer the most pleasant conditions for exploration.
Greece uses the Euro (€). ATMs are widely available in all towns and larger villages.
Crete is an exceptionally safe destination. The main summer health consideration is sun protection.
