Our impressions

Ligres, situated at the foot of the imposing mount of Siderotas, is the northern part of the beachfront called Akoumiani Gialia, extending from Mellissa cape to the south. It is located 51km south of Rethymno and 7km south of the village Kerames.

🌊
The beach of Ligres is vast, with coarse sand and fantastic deep sea. Thanks to its relatively tough access, it has been spared from excessive tourism development, making it one of the most tranquil and secluded beaches on the island.

⛱️
Although the beach is not organized, there are taverns and a few rooms available on the west side of the beach, which can be reached by car through a poor quality asphalt road. At the west end of the beach, there is a beautiful waterfall which falls next to the sea and is active all year round.
🍑
Next to the northern part of the beach, known as Katsouni, there is a lovely beach that is mainly preferred by nudists and is entirely secluded. However, there are plenty of places to swim in the nude along this vast and empty beach.

Taking a walk along the beachfront towards Triopetra, till Xiromilia area, is highly recommended, as you will get to see the amazing rock formations. In the middle of Ligres, stands a beautiful reddish rock near the sea.

🏊‍♀️
Ligres is also nudist-friendly, with a secluded beach preferred by those who enjoy swimming in the nude.
